Recently, I saw Oleanna at New Theater at Rutgers for my Theater Appreciation class. I really liked and hated it at the same time. I liked it because it was salacious, and it really gave me something to discuss with my friends. It got me riled up, but in a bad way - I guess. If you never heard about the play, here is a link for plot summary details - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oleanna_(play) In short, this play is about a female college student who confuses the help her male professor is giving her as sexual and anti-feminist exchanges. What I really hated about her character was that she thought she was right and never tried to understand things from anyone else's perspective. She thought she was the only student ever to struggle with a college class -- here's a news flash: everyone's got problems - but not everyone bitches about it. She had no reasoning what so ever, she claimed that calling a girl "dear" or "baby" is the same as rape. How can anyone be that delusional? She described herself as a feminist, but she's really giving feminist as a bad name. I am a feminist, and to me, this means that I believe that men and women are equal and should have equal rights in all ways. I don't think that women are superior than men, and if you do then that's the same thing as being a male chauvinist.
I'll probably right more about this later, but I have to go to class-
